Fitting Instructions - step 1 of 3

PREPERATION

After removing your rack please take a few minutes to familiarise yourself with the structure and orientation of all the parts. Your gutter rail mounting brackets will be supplied for either ‘rivet’ fixing or ‘nutsert’ fixing. If you have opted for the ‘nutsert’ fixing you will require a special tool (contact us for loan arrangements) to set the collapsible threaded fixing into the rail. If you have opted for the ‘rivet’ fixing a standard rivet gun will be required.

BRACKET INSTALLATION

Using two strips of masking tape stuck to the gutter rail carefully mark the hole centre positions of the two hanging brackets and offer up the main frames just to ensure that there is adequate clearance of all internal bodywork such as wheel arches etc. The optimum mounting bracket position is with one at the centre line of the rear wheel arch and the other around 150cm or 60in away. When happy with the bracket positions re-check the hole centres and drill small pilot holes. Holes for Nutserts (shown below) will require enlarging to 11mm or 7/16 inch. Holes for ‘rivet’ fixing should be set at 5mm.
